Abstract

The article deals with the process of the formation of regimental museums in the upper Dnipro Ukraine in the 19-20th centuries. It is known that museum establishments in the military units of the imperial army massively appeared in the end of the 19th century. Their appearance is associated with jubilees of military units, regimental stories writings, wars anniversaries, which were outstanding for the Russian Empire. The basement of the expositions are historic monuments, objects of expensive dishes with gift slips from former fellow soldiers, as well as other military units, trophies obtained during various military campaigns in which regiments, samples of form, armament, ammunition, regimental stories were taken. At the same time, the museum collections include rare exhibits related to the Cossack past of Ukraine. It is determined that the peculiarities of the functioning of regimental museums were the sporadicity of funding, the spontaneity of education, the lack of a legislative framework for their activities and centralized management, frequent loss of collections due to redeployment.
